Original, Functional, Rare WWII GERMAN SCHLENKER-GRUSEN NAV CLOCK BLINDFLUGUHR FL.23888 BO-UK3. The BO UK 3 was a timepiece that was designed in the early 1940s for radio operators, i.e. for multi-seat aircraft.
It was manufactured in Germany by the company: Schlenker & Grusen Apparatefabrik in Schwenningen am Neckar
and the Laufamholz Köhler & Co watch factory . It only has a central continuous seconds and no stopwatch function.
Equipped with a bezel that can be rotated on both sides, the watch also has a rotating ring with an arrow outside the bezel,
which can be used as a time marker. With a diameter of approx. 80 mm, it is a relatively large but easy-to-read clock.
The clock is housed in a kind of cup and can be folded up using a hinge, then set and the movement wound up.
The name of the watch is: BO UK 3, device no.: 127-555 A, Fl.23888
Here is a copy of part of a document that shows the draft for LDv 253/4 from 1939. The BO UK 3. on-board clock is described here and the radio operator is explicitly referred to under the intended use. The watch also has a total running time of 60 hours. In various publications the BO UK 3 is always written about an 8 day drive.... Rare photos showing the BO UK3: The photos below are said to come from a Ju 88 and show the radio operator at his workplace. It was also used in the He177, Si 204 D, Do 217, Me 210 and others.
