This is an original Fernbesprechzusatz Fbz (bf), a WWII-era German remote intercom/control unit designed for use with the Wehrmacht’s Torn.Fu.b1 backpack radio set. Produced around 1941, the Fbz (bf) allowed an operator to control and use the Torn.Fu.b1 from a distance of up to 100 meters via field cable, enabling discreet or protected operation away from the radio itself.

The rugged steel housing features the original factory data plate and clearly stamped control legends for Ortsbesprechung (local conversation), Fernbesprechung (remote conversation), and Zwischenverkehr (intermediate/relay mode). Its multi-pin connector mates with the Torn.Fu.b1 radio, while separate ports are provided for microphone and handset connections.

These units were typically issued with a 50 m cable drum and transport crate, forming part of the complete remote control kit. Surviving examples in such complete and well-preserved condition are scarce, making this an exceptional piece for collectors of WWII German communications equipment.

An authentic and historically significant component of the Wehrmacht field communications network, the Fbz (bf) stands as a tangible link to the intricate and resourceful radio systems of the Second World War.
