ORIGINAL, COMPLETE, VERY RARE WWII WEHRMACHT GERMAN MILITARY TFuG. k  FIELD SERVICE RADIO TRANSCEIVER.

The TFuG.k transceiver was introduced in 1943. It transmits on the same frequency range as the Torn. Fu. f and receives on the same range as the Torn. Fu. c. The vacuum tubes in the TFuG.k are the RV2,4P700 type, in contrast to the other Torn.Fu.* models that employ the RV2P800 tubes. In place of the standard battery configuration employing one filament and one anode battery, the battery box for the TFuG.k uses two filament batteries (2,4NC58) and a vibrating power supply (WGl. 2,4 a) to convert the 2,4 Volt filament voltage of the second battery to 150 Volts for the anode circuit.

There are speculations about why this arrangement was introduced. Some say that because this was a "forward artillery spotting transceiver" the spotters needed the capability of staying in the field for an extended period of time. Since both of the 2,4NC58 batteries were rechargeable, this provided the radio operator the capability of staying in his position for an indefinite period of time.

USE: These are portable radio sets, and are intended for field service as pack sets. The transmitters can be modulated using ordinary field telephone lines. Satisfactory operation is possible over about 1.5 miles of field wire.

TYPE OF SIGNAL: Received: CW, tone and voice

Transmitted: CW and voice (AM)

RANGE: (MILES) 12 (CW), 6 (Voice) - approximately

TO COMMUNICATE WITH: Torn.Fu.b1, Torn.Fu.c, Torn.Fu.f, Torn.Fu.d2, and any other set with overlapping frequency range.

TRANSPORTATION: Pack sets to be carried by two men - one for the transceiver and the other for battery pack which houses also headphones, key, microphone, antenna gear and other accessories. The set also has a case containing equipment for remote voice operation. Not intended to be used while on the move.
